Conference: Dynamics on flat surfaces and their moduli spaces

Due to the recent developments around the spreading of the Corona virus, The Hausdorff Research Institute for Mathematics, in coordination with the organizers of the current trimester program, is cancelling this conference.

Flat surfaces arise from understanding the dynamics of polygonal billiards. The moduli space of flat surfaces has rich intrinsic geometry, much as the moduli space of curves, and admits and $SL_2(R)$-action, allowing to draw parallels to the dynamics on homogeneous spaces.
This workshop will focus on the dynamics of the horocycle flow and the $SL_2(R)$-action, for example on the classification of orbit closures, and study the geometry and topology of the moduli space as a whole, for example via characteristic quantities such as Masur-Veech volumes and Siegel-Veech constants.
