Field Arithmetic studies the interrelation between arithmetical properties of fields and their absolute Galois groups. It is an interdisciplinary area that uses methods of algebraic number theory, algebraic geometry, arithmetic geometry, and the theory of profinite groups. Some of the results are motivated by questions of model theory and are used to establish results in this area like decision procedures, undecidability results, and transfer theorems.
