Workshop on Finite Weyl-Heisenberg Groups in mathematics, quantum physics, and engineering

Dates: Feburary 22-24, 2016
Venue: HIM lecture hall, Poppelsdorfer Allee 45, Bonn
Organizers: David Gross, Götz Pfander

Finite Weyl-Heisenberg theory plays an important role in a variety of contexts. These include time-frequency analysis, Gabor theory, phase space methods in quantum information theory, as well as mobile communication and radar applications. While similar mathematical problems appear in all these fields, the exchange of ideas between mathematicians, physicists, and engineers working on finite Weyl-Heisenberg theory has been hampered by differences in jargon and publication habits. This meeting brought together leading members of these communities in order to facilitate closer interdisciplinary collaborations.
